The Paintracker is a handy monitoring device to determine the analgesic depth needed for patients based on the pain reflex technique. The effects of pain therapy can therefore be measured using an objective parameter and concrete treatment recommendations can be derived from these measurements.

Non-communicative patients in particular require a technique to determine possible pain and the prevailing analgesia. Inadequate analgesia can be hazardous for patients due to agitation and stress responses, for example.

Excessive analgesic therapy can also be harmful due to amplified dose-dependent adverse reactions to the analgesics, for example. Both can increase mortality and morbidity and lead to rising therapy costs.
