Company

Dolosys GmbH is a medical technology company focused on the development and manufacture of devices for objective measurement of pain and pain control.
As a spin-off from the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, the company maintains close ties with current research as well as the realities of everyday clinical practice.

History

Since 2002 the "Neurophysiology of anaesthesia and analgesia" working group of the Charité has been researching spinal reflexes and their possible use in pain and analgesia measurement, including as part of the DFG projects "Predicting surgical immobility with the help of the RIII reflex" and "Monitoring nociception and antinociception with the help of spinal pain reflexes".

To bring these promising research results for optimisation of pain therapy to everyday clinical practice as quickly as possible, the suitability of the technique for use in clinical practice was verified and the complex laboratory setup was translated into a compact prototype as part of an EXIST research transfer programme funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.

After verifying the technical feasibility and the economic viability of the business concept, the company Dolosys GmbH was founded. As part of the EXIST research transfer programme, the prototype was developed to series production maturity and is expected to be introduced as a medical product in the market in the first quarter of 2015.
